After-School & Holiday Programs
Garden Explorers Summer Program
Our Summer youth program at the Old Stone House, “Garden Explorers” offers nature-centered outdoor learning.
Through engaging games, art and crafts, children are taught to identify plants and elements of the ecosystem. They will learn about pollinators, seed propagation, insects and the cycle of composting, as well as storytelling and scavenger-hunting through the 1.5 acres of gardens of Washington Park.
Perfect for outdoorsy, creative kiddos who don’t want to be inside all day long! Activities are focused on nature: seeds, flowers, fruits, plants, birds, bees, and other insects. Students make paper, dye fabric with plant-based dyes, make seed collages, create sun prints, learn about food preservation, make clay sculptures, make maps, create botanical drawings and paintings, and so much more!
