Remedy for a Constitutional Crisis: MOVED TO RAIN DATE

November 4 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Remedy for a Constitutional Crisis will be performed at Old Stone House in Brooklyn as part of Picturing the Constitution.

This event will take place on its rain date: November 4, 2023, from 11a – 2p.

This group exhibition, hosted by artist Maya Ciarrocchi, invites artists to respond to an aspect of the US Constitution, including its amendments and interpretations by the Supreme Court and various governing bodies throughout history, and asks, to what extent do these founding documents still serve us (equitably)? What could we add or amend?

Participants will be invited to read the US Constitution in multiple languages, in rotating groups of three. Running concurrently with the reading there will be a Long Table discussion on such topics as:

    • The Importance of a Written Constitution
    • Separation of Powers
    • Federalism
    • Individual Rights
    • And anything else that comes up!

Pocket constitutions will be available and participants, their guests, and the public are invited to reflect on existing amendments and write new ones.

Picturing the Constitution will be on view: October 20, 2023-January 14, 2024.

Open Hours: Friday-Sunday 12-4pm, or by appointment
