Environmental Education

OSH’s 1.5 acres of gardens provide the foundation for a variety of environmental education programs for adults and children. From Traditional Medicinals – a program for school groups — as well as walks, talks and community programs throughout the year, it’s possible to engage with and draw knowledge from our rich urban landscape.

GARDEN EXPLORERS SUMMER 2024

GARDEN EXPLORERS SUMMER 2024

Hands-On Summer Fun for Humans Ages 7 to 11

The Outdoor fun is expanding to six weeks!

Come outside and play in Washington Park

Register for Summer youth classes at the Old Stone House! Our “Garden Explorers” program has expanded to offer 6 weeks of nature-centered outdoor learning.

Through engaging games, art and crafts, children are taught to identify plants and elements of the ecosystem. They will learn about pollinators, seed propagation, insects and the cycle of composting, as well as scavenger-hunting through the 1.5 acres of gardens of Washington Park.

Perfect for outdoorsy, creative kiddos who don’t want to be inside all day long! Activities are focused on nature. Students dye fabric with natural materials, make seed collages, create sun prints, learn about food preservation, make clay sculptures and so much more!
